Clowns date back to around 2400 BCE and have traditionally served socio-religious and psychological roles as opposed to the traditional "court jester" stereotypes. The most famous clown in the world was the American Emmet Kelly. His performances transcend all time and place, and those experiences shared with him some forty years ago are universally applicable today. He made us laugh and he made us cry. His genius followed in the footsteps of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and even Red Skelton! They were the greats of their time!! Who will be the Greats of our time?

     This legacy is what we strive for today; the laughter and introspection through good times and bad. It is the duty of the clown today (mostly street performers now) to lift society out of its monotony and its indifference and keep humanity (the love and the laughter) a common bond between us.
